Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, especially when exploring a new city. Before we embarked on day two of exploring the city of good eats, we checked out Chicago’s well-known breakfast and lunch spot, Yolk, in the South Loop. On the breakfast menu are a big selection of omelets, skillets and scramblers priced from $7.49 to $15.99. With pages of delicious items to pick from, we narrowed it down to the classic combo and the Farm House Platter.
Classic Combo |
The Classic Combo is for big appetites. Nothing fancy. Two eggs any style, two slices of applewood smoked bacon, two sausage links, and a choice of two pancakes, French toast, or crepes for $7.99. Looking around at other diners plates, it was hard to decide what to get. Sticking to my morning battleplan, I opted for their big fluffy pancakes. Can’t go wrong with this breakfast.
Fresh biscuits topped with homemade sausage gravy and two eggs any style make up the Farm House Platter. Doesn’t that sound delicious! A hearty meal priced at $7.99, this platter is served with a choice of red diced potatoes or fruit.
Farm House Platter |
Fresh squeezed strawberry orange juice is one of their popular drinks. Their grapefruit juice, also fresh squeezed is another good choice. Yolk is BYOB, so feel free to bring some champagne or other mixers to make your drinks pop.
Would we come back again? Definitely. Quick service, great meals, and excellent prices. You can’t go wrong. Yolk also has locations in River North and Streeterville.
