Looks can be deceiving, but The White Spot Cafe, a small burger joint in Downtown Anchorage serves the best halibut sandwiches in town. Ask the locals. Service: simple. Seat yourself, order a drink from the waiter and holler your order to the cook.
For $11 you can get a halibut sandwich with fries or coleslaw; or $15.50 with both sides. For an out-of-towner, remember, there’s no tax. So $11 for a big fish sandwich is a great deal, especially since it’s enough to share with another person, if you’re not greedy. The fish is fresh and isn’t greasy. The fries are pretty good too. Be careful not to burn your tongue – it’s brought to you right after it’s been cooked.
