Our first dining stop in our recent trip to Anchorage was Pho Vietnam on Denali Street. I’ve read great reviews of the restaurant and a hot bowl of pho didn’t seem like a bad idea.
We tried the Spring Rolls, which were stuffed with ground pork, carrots, taro, jicama and glass noodles ($6.95 for 4). The rolls were fried to perfection and were quite heavy – a great value. The only thing that was missing was the lettuce that is usually served to wrap the rolls with. For the main course we had the Pho Tai and Pork Chop with rice, both for $10 each. Pho Tai is a bowl of rice noodle soup, thin rare slices of beef round, served with a side of bean sprouts, cilantro, basil and lime, which you add to your liking. The Pork Chop dish was excellent, with an added bonus of fried egg served on top of white rice. Can’t go wrong with that.
Overall, excellent food. Quick service. Good prices.
