On the weekends, Tarry Market prepares wonderful panini for under $10 in the meat/rotisserie section of the store. Not just any order panini, but panini made with meats cooked only on the weekends: Prime Rib, Porchetta, and Braciolone. The butcher let me sample each of these juicy meats as I tried to decide what panini I wanted to have for lunch.
The Prime Rib is prepared the same way as the Rosticceria in Eataly: 100% Black Angus Beef from Donley Ranch in Kansas, Taggiascan Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Roi, and their own housemade Porcini Rub. The porcini rub enhances the flavor of the meat, and if you’ve never tried it – TRY it. You can order the Prime Rib by the pound at $29.95/lb or in a panini for $9.95. The panini is slowly made in front of you: the prime rib is sliced on the cutting board, placed in cut freshly baked bread, drizzled with olive oil, and sprinkled with salt and pepper.
The Braciolone, $18.95/lb, is made with lean pork loin rolled around sausage. The meat is tender and juicy. The Porchetta Rotissarie, $17.99/lb is pork loin roasted with pork belly wrapped around it. The crispy pork belly is a nice touch, and leaves the pork loin juicy. You can try either in a panini for $8.95 each
So what did we get? The Prime Rib and Porchetta panini. Both were absolutely delicious and satisfying. I’ll bid adieu to eating plain roast beef sandwiches, Tarry Market’s prime rib is my new favorite beef sandwich. The Porchetta was my favorite. I love pork belly (it’s where bacon comes from) – the crunch, the small bits of fat, and flavors – you can’t go wrong.
I asked the staff if they’ll be serving these three panini on the weekdays – they’re working on it. As soon as they do, I’ll let you know.
If you’re not in Westchester, Eataly NYC serves these panini on a regular basis. Just check the Rosticceria schedule.
