No. 7 Sub at the Ace Hotel is known for its creative, tasty sandwiches for lunch. I just discovered (yeah, a little late) that breakfast Sandwiches are served Monday to Friday, from 8 until 10:30 am.
Broccoli, Egg and Cheese |
Here are the options:
- Egg Salad (Bacon, Blackberry Cream Cheese), $5
- General Tso’s Soft Boiled Fried Egg (Pickles, Mayo, Arugula), $3
- Broccoli, Egg and Cheese (Smoked Gouda, Thai Basil Pesto), $4
- Kielbasa (Scrambled Eggs, Sweet Soy, Pickled Jalapeno), $5
I tried the broccoli, egg and cheese and it’s definitely one of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve ever had. Sounds like an interesting mix, especially for breakfast. The sandwich was a great combination of perfectly cooked scrambled eggs, with a slice of smoked Gouda, and crunchy roasted broccoli with a little bit of Thai basil pesto. The sub bread was terrific, baked daily at Caputo Bakery in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. For $4, you’ve got a great deal and excellent quality food versus what you would get at many of the delis in the area for the same price.
I was not a fan of the Egg Salad sandwich, which consisted of a mix of potatoes, eggs, thick chunks of bacon, and blueberry cream cheese. I think it would have been better without the blueberry cream cheese.
They don’t sell coffee, but that’s okay. Just swing around the corner and grab a cup at Stumptown Coffee Roasters.
