Near Grand Place, Brussels, is a wonderful pastry shoppe selling Oriental pastries, including a variety of baklava. My first day in Brussels I walked by and was amazed by the plentiful supply of gorgeous baklava sold at Rose Damas Pâtisseries Orientale. Yes, gorgeous, and each piece on display was perfectly made, and looked too pretty to eat. I marched on to the next place, but remembered it on my last night in the city. Boy, did I wish I stopped by sooner.
I tried to order one of each, but there were so many I had to settle for six pieces. I’ll say all were delicious, and my favorite were the pistachio varieties
The staff didn’t mind me taking photos of the food, after all, I did explain I was a food writer. I don’t think they cared. But I share with you several shots of the varieties of baklava – pistachio, walnut, almond, coffee, and more.
If you’re walking in the area, be sure to stop by for a treat. It’s well worth it!
And now, the photos…
