The Schnitzel Truck is an NYC food truck that sells schnitzel. What’s schnitzel – thinly pounded piece of meat that is fried to yummy perfection. I’ve gone to The Schnitzel Truck several times before, but kept forgetting to blog about it.
Today, I ordered the Cod schnitzel sandwich with ginger, scallion & garlic relish. Of course, despite the definition, the cod was not pounded thin, breaded and fried. Instead, nuggets of cod fish were breaded and fried and placed on a bed of ciabatta bread, lettuce and tomato.
The chicken and pork schnitzel is also good. I have not tried the bratwurst yet, but will next time.
Condiments – The truck also sells condiments to go with your schnitzel:
- Austrian potato salad
- Braised sauerkraut
- Cucumber salad
- Yukon gold french fries
- Chickpea salad
- Roasted beets and feta salad
- Mesclun salad
My faves are the potato salad (can’t go wrong with that) and cucumber salad. My lunch buddy says the roasted beets are awesome.
