My boyfriend and I dined at Megu Midtown for dinner during restaurant week. I figured, Hey. Might as well try this place, especially for the prixe fixe of $35 for dinner. After all, I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews on this restaurant.
Reservations were set for 9.30 and the restaurant was packed. Alright, let’s get to the most important part – the food. I ordered the Salmon Carpaccio as my appetizer – thin slices of salmon topped with tomatoes and red onion.
Main course
– Miso Cod; my favorite dish at Morimoto, but was no competition; quite disappointing. And for dessert, caramel cake with green tea mochi ice cream – not too bad.
My boyfriend ordered the Soft Shell crab salad – 1 1/2 pieces of fried softshell crab atop a small salad – Think of it as a low carb spider roll. For his main course he had the Kobe Beef – presented on a heated stone. Sadly, the taste wasn’t great. Seemed like a steak anyone could prepare at hoem.
I wasn’t quite impressed by the food. My favorite was the appetizer for both my boyfriend and I. Would I go there again, probably not.
