Situated along the Saugatuck River, Arezzo boasts one of the most stunning views in Fairfield County overlooking the Westport Bridge, downtown and Levitt Pavillion. Chef Vinicio Llanos and family recently took over this prime riverside space and added a sundeck and bar to their al fresco dining, which can seat up to 150 guests.
Arezzo’s menu features antipasti, house made pasta, steaks and chops, fresh fish, and wood-fired Neapolitan pizza. We were invited to a media dinner where we sampled Chef Llanos’ newest Tuscan-inspired additions to the menu.
For starters we enjoyed antipasti (assortment of Italian cheeses) and a farm fresh homemade yellow tomato gazpacho topped with poached shrimp, perfect for the warm weather.
On to the pasta. We enjoyed the savory and hearty Short Rib Tortelone with beef jus which paired perfectly with a glass of Chianti.
The next courses featured a delicious Grilled Swordfish with roasted vegetable caponata and a tender, slow braised lamb shank with saffron risotto.
For dessert, we sampled two popular treats – a classic, light Tiramisu and a rich Tortino di Cioccolato (warm lava chocolate cake) paired with my usual dessert drink – a double espresso.
Belly satisfied, we enjoyed the views of downtown Westport while sipping a Limoncello Pop, which had me reminiscing about the first time I had limoncello in Venice decades ago.
Arezzo is a fantastic restaurant to enjoy lunch, dinner, or drinks. They are also family-friendly. That evening, almost every table had a least one child enjoying their meals.
