Folks often ask us for our recommendations for Champagne, or sparkling wines, to drink on New Years Eve. Here are a few of our top picks.
A great buy for $20 is Roederer Estate Brut from California. Each sip of Roederer Estate Brut is crisp and elegant with complex pear, spice and hazelnut flavors. It is fresh and lightly fruity with great finesse and depth of flavor.
From Holiday meals to gifts, Le Grand Courtâge is a versatile and affordable French bubbly priced under $20! Their beautiful bottles offer an exceptional value and their dry, crisp, yet fruit forward flavor profile is sure to please the palate. Le Grand Courtâge wines are cuisine and cocktail-friendly, offering French elegance, American appeal and affordable pricing.
Our favorite Champagne, is H. Billiot Fil’s Brut Rosé. While I’m not a connoisseur that’s great at describing flavors, I’ll leave it to The Wine Spectator: “Subtle, with ripe fruit flavors of yellow apple and pear mixing with light smike, ground spice and mineral notes. Clean, fresh and creamy.” A bottle of H. Billiot will run you about $50-$60, depending on the seller. It’s hard to find, but worth the hunt.
If you’re unable to find any of these wines at your local store, the common Champagne houses we purchase from are Veuve Clicquot, Perrier-Jouët, and Moët & Chandon. All great, but H. Billiot is by far, our favorite.
