Ever since Maison Kayser opened its second location NYC in the Flatiron District (and shall I add its second location in the US), I’ve been coming here often to grab a quick bite, and an occasional treat. Located on the corner of 21st and Broadway, Maison Kayser is split in two sections – a grab-and-go area for sandwiches, salads, and pastries, and a 52-seat restaurant.
Opening week was a bit hectic, but I caught a glimpse of the French baker Eric Kayser chatting with the folks manning the boulangerie. Until now, it’s still busy with tourists and locals alike. So when I’m caught in the lunchtime rush, I head to the fridge to grab a sandwich and/or salad, depending on my appetite, and order a few pastries before checking out.
Maison Kayser has a great selection of sandwiches – Cobb, Chicken Caesar, Tuna – and salads mostly priced under $10. You can also find containers of side dishes, like pasta salads and vegetables.
