Every season, The Capital Grille updates their lunch menu to feature the season’s best produce. We were invited to try The Capital Grille’s new Summer Plates menu, showcasing the return of a classic and introduction of new seasonal items. Diners can customize their lunch, choosing from ten “plates” offerings – soup or salad, lunch entrée and a side – all for $18.

The Summer “Plates” menu marks the return of the Wagyu Cheeseburger with Fried Egg and Crisp Onions – served on a buttery Brioche bun that pulls the egg, onion, cheese and Wagyu together. The truffle fries are a perfect match for this dish.
New Summer “Plates” menu items include Carrot Ginger Soup, Seared Sea Scallops with Sweet and Sour Tomatoes, and Watermelon Salad with Feta Cheese.
The Carrot Ginger Soup is served in a small cup, garnished with chives and a dollop of sour cream. The soup is light and refreshing. A nice addition to the menu. Executive Chef Matthew Schmalle notes “Carrots contain plenty of natural sugars in the beginning of the season. Combining them with ginger in our new Carrot Ginger Soup creates a depth of flavor and vibrant color, well-suited for summer.
The Seared Sea Scallops is a generous portion, especially for the price of the meal. You get four pieces of fresh scallops, cooked perfectly, on a bed of cous cous. This pairs well with the watermelon salad.

As with the previous Spring plates menu, we enjoyed the new Summer plates menu. It’s great deal for $18. If you have room for dessert, savor the Coconut Creme Pie or our all-time favorite, the Crème Brûlée.
