Last year, I ate my way through Belgium and The Netherlands. This year, I decided to stay local and eat my way through Fairfield County, CT. I planned only one meal: Sunday Pig Roast at Barcelona Wine Bar. The rest was all spontaneous. Really just listening to my tummy and what it was craving.
The day of my birthday, March 31st, I woke up early and hit the gym knowing I’d be feasting on whatever I wanted. A small carton of Zico coconut water became my liquid breakfast (and hydrater). Then came a glass of Roederer Estate Sparkling Wine and a piece of fine chocolate a friend gave me from his recent trip to Australia. CLINK to my birthday.

I had a craving for eggs, hollandaise, and a Bloody Mary. Brunch. Ah, who does Brunch on Saturday? Isn’t it only Sunday Brunch? Then I thought of checking CT Bites since I remembered seeing mention of a great farm to table restaurant in Norwalk. Hopped in car, and looked up the post…aha! Sugar & Olives. Entered into the Bimmer’s navigation and off we went.
Duck bacon. Rolled eggs. Bloody Mary. Strong French-pressed coffee. Happy Dee.
What else did we do? Shop. Not for clothes. For food. Double L Market in Westport. Darien Cheese. Back home for a shot of Nespresso and off to Barcelona to see Chef Scott prep the suckling pig for Sunday’s dinner. And then tapas. Wine. Tapas. my goodness. It’s 7pm already. Time to head out and meet a friend.
We took a break from eating. Chatted at our apartment and went back out to satisfy my craving for tacos at Bartaco. Guacamole. Tamales. A pitcher of Margaritas. Churros. A great night.
Here we are…Sunday morning…Exercising my thumbs as I type this post on my iPhone. Thinking of what to do today. Crepes? Hmm not sure what to have to start my day. I know, cinnamon raisin bread from SoNo Baking Company.
