Café Leffe is a bar in the Sablon area of Brussels. There are tons of tables outside of the restaurant, where you can sit down and enjoy a beer. Don’t expect the quickest of service, so grab any open table you see, review the menu, and order your thirst quencher. Give it up to 5 minutes to get your beer. Patience is key here.
The menu is simple – a variety of Leffe and other Belgian beer. The food choices were decent, but nothing worthwhile for me. I looked around at other tables, and saw more people smoking than eating. There I go again about the smokers. I trusted my gut instinct and saved my appetite. Thank goodness I did because while doing research I read many bad food reviews.
No need to go over the Café Leffe beer list, but all the Leffes are on the menu (Leffe Blond, Brown, Ruby, Tripel) and in different glass sizes. So if you want to sample all the beers, just start with a small glass for a couple Euros. There are other typical Belgian beers on the menu as well.
I ordered a Leffe Ruby, a beer I’ve never had and drinking it at Café Leffe makes all more special. Leffe Ruby is a fruity (because it’s made with red fruits), smooth beer, with a touch of sourness. A mere 5% ABV, makes it a beer for a lightweight.
Summary: Sorry, but I’ve gotta label this a tourist trap.
