Chicken wings...the perfect food to have while watching the game, while having a drink at the bar, or just to munch on. Since living in Westchester, NY our favorite spot for wings is Candlelight Inn in Scarsdale. In Fairfield County, we’ve heard Archie Moore’s in Fairfield is the place to go. They’ve even got accolades of winning “Best of Connecticut,” “Best of the Gold Coast,” and more.
While we were at Archie Moore’s, we both had a debate on which place had better wings. It all came down to three criteria:
Best Flavor
Candlelight Inn wins this category. Not only does the meat have flavor, they also offer a variety of delicious sauces that stick to the wings (and your fingers). Their classic wings come in mild, hot, extra hot, and Chernobyl. You can also get them plain, barbecue, or Teriyaki. What do we order: plain and hot. Ain’t nuthin wrong with a mix.
Best Texture
Archie Moore’s got this. Their wings (shown above) are cooked perfectly – crispy on the outside and moist on the inside.
Best Ranch
Candlelight Inn’s ranch got chunks of bleu cheese in it. The sauce is thick, and sticks to the wings.
And the winner is…Candlelight Inn. Sure they’ve got a long wait for dining in, but it’s worth it. They have another building on the other side of the small parking lot where you can get your wings packed for the road.
