Kona Brewing Company Kai

Kona Brewing Company Kai

Whenever we go to Hawaii, we always drink beer from Kona Brewing Company. Whenever we see it at the store, we grab a six-pack. Our go-to’s: Wailua Wheat and Longboard. I’m actually drinking an ice cold Longboard now. This morning I learned that Kona Brewing Company has released a limited edition brew called Kai Golden Ale to benefit the Maui Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, a non-profit organization that aims to protect and preserve the world’s oceans, waves, and beaches.. Kai, in case you didn’t know, is our daughter’s name, and I thought it would be worthwhile to share the news.

In celebration and in benefit of the foundation, the Kai Golden Ale will be Kona Brewing’s third small batch beer in the Makana Series. The series is part of Kona Brewing’s campaign to say “mahalo to the people of Hawai’i for their support over the last 21 years.” (Mahalo is Hawaiian for Thanks).

Part of each limited edition beer in the series has gone to one of four Hawai’i-based non-profit organizations that have dedicated themselves to restoring and preserving natural resources in Hawai’i. Each of the beers have been inspired by Hawai’i’s natural elements.

Kai is Hawaiian for water and was the inspiration for the Kai Golden Ale, which uses water from 3,000 feet below the Kona coast. The desalinated seawater has brought a light, crisp finish.

The brew is available only on the islands (We’re debating on making a trip out there to try this, and just because we go there so often). Folks can get a taste of the brew on tap at bars and restaurants by visiting the Kona Brewing Company’s “Find a Beer” tool.

Where to Try Kona Brewing Company’s Kai Brew

If we can’t make it out there this year, I’ll pray that Kona Brewing Company will send us some. 😉

Aloha!
