It’s not often when we dine at the same restaurant when on holiday. While staying at the newly renovated Hamilton Princess in Bermuda, we dined at the Crown & Anchor Bar, Restaurant, and Terrace daily for either breakfast, lunch, dinner, or dessert. Formerly known as The Heritage Court, the restaurant recently had a new sleek, contemporary makeover. You can either dine indoors and have a seat outdoors, set in the beautifully landscaped gardens, overlooking the new Marina and Hamilton Harbour.
For breakfast, you can dine a la carte or have a variety with their buffet, priced at $29 per person. The buffet features a variety of baked goods (croissants, scones and other breakfast pastries), cold meats and cheeses, and breakfast staples (eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes). If you see it available, try the codfish and potatoes, a traditional Bermudian Sunday breakfast item.
Fish & Chips
On the lunch/dinner menu you’ll find soups, salads, sandwiches, and entrees as well as a daily special. We enjoyed the Fish & Chips, with preserved lemon tartar sauce, mushy peas, and fries, $28, and the Blackened (Snapper) Fish Sandwich with cabbage salad, curry remoulade, $20.
During your meal, or if you just want to have a drink to relax and savor the good life, try the popular Dark and Stormy or a Bermuda Rum Swizzle, a delicious mix of local Gosling’s Black Seal Rum.
Lemongrass Crème Brûlée
For dessert, we enjoyed C&A’s Lemongrass Crème Brûlée with pistachio short bread. An interesting combination, but very delicious. We had it twice.
Latte
At the Crown & Anchor, kids under 5 years of age eat free. So our little foodie ate chicken fingers with either a fruit bowl or fries, along with juice or milk. On our last night on the island, she indulged in a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Service is great. Valentin and Shanjay were great waitstaff and we’ve had fun conversations with them. The only downside to Crown & Anchor is the menu is the same for both lunch and dinner.
