fresh&co recently partnered with celebrity chef Donatella Arpaia for a special culinary collaboration featuring her award-winning meatballs, which I had the chance to try back when she had her restaurant in Chelsea. These meatballs are featured in three new fresh&co dishes: Amazeballs, Amazebowl and Amazewich.
- Amazeballs – Three award-winning meatballs, made with locally-sourced veal and the freshest herbs, lightly fried and served with Donatella’s signature San Marzano tomato sauce. ($7.95) You can find these in the refrigerator case.
- Amazebowl – Three Amazeballs, quinoa, spinach, grape tomatoes, caramelized onions, and basil vinaigrette, topped with basil and freshly grated parmesan cheese. ($10.75)
- Amazewich – Three Amazeballs, pesto cheese bread, Donatella’s signature San Marzano tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella and fresh basil. ($8.95)
Our thoughts: either way you go, these meatballs are, well, amazing. The meatballs are full of flavor and surprisingly moist (we were expecting the opposite since it was served in a busy fast-casual restaurant). We loved the flavors from all the components in the Amazewich – from the tender meatballs, to the delicious bread, to the rich tomato sauce. Plain and simple – you’ve gotta try it. The Amazebowl is a pretty big serving and consuming half of it will satisfy your appetite. I never had meatballs in a quinoa bowl, but heck it was pretty tasty. I recommend trying this, especially if you’re cautious of what you eat.
These dishes will be available in all twelve fresh&co locations in New York City for a limited time. 25% of all meatball proceeds will be donated to fresh&co’s longtime charitable partners, City Harvest and Friends of Karen.
