The Capital Grille’s Generous Pour Wine Event is back for the summer. Until September 2, guests can enjoy up to 9 wines for just $25 per person at dinner. Each wine was chosen from unique vineyards around the world by The Capital Grille’s Master Sommelier, George Miliotes, one of only 186 in the world.
We took advantage of this deal during dinner at The Capital Grille in Stamford, CT. Like most wine tastings, your server will guide you through the experience, with suggested pairings and wine tasting notes for each course ordered. Our server, Dana, was phenomenal. She spent time to walk us through each of the pours and ask for our thoughts, what flavors our palettes picked up, and the notes we smelled.
The Gary Farrell Chardonnay, 2009 is an excellent white that is best enjoyed with the Prosciutto Wrapped Mozzarella with Vine Ripe Tomatoes, our new favorite appetizer.
Our favorite wine of the nine was the Ferrari-Carano Mountain Reserve, Cabernet Sauvignon, 2008 – This bold Alexander Valley Cabernet paired perfectly with the Seared Tenderloin with Butter Poached Lobster Tails.
For dessert, the Chocolate Hazelnut Cake and Kanu Kia Ora Chenin Blanc, 2006 complimented each other with the richness of the cake and intense citrus flavors of the wine.
Another great dessert is the raspberry sorbet, a refreshing treat especially on a warm summer night.
As always, we had a wonderful dining experience. When making reservations at The Capital Grille Stamford, we recommend requesting Dana Hallberg as your server.
