Goma Tei Ramen is my favorite ramen spot in Honolulu. Their specialty is a spicy sesame-based soup served with a variety of toppings. My favorite is the Char Siu Tan Tan Ramen which comes with thick slices of pork belly (you’ll see in the photos below), pieces of choy sum, and firm ramen noodles. The char siu is flavorful and tender and is perfect with the spicy broth.
Goma Tei’s shoyu broth is also delicious, but I prefer the tan tan. If you’re unsure of what broth to get, just ask them for a sample. I’m sure you’ll go with tan tan.

The Tonkatsu Ramen – fried pork cutlets and ramen noodles in curry – is also worth a try. A tasty dish which is very filling.

If you’re in a group, I recommend getting the Chicken Tatsutaage for $6.75. It’s tough to share an order between two people because the serving sizes here are pretty big, especially if you’re getting a bowl of ramen. But how could you resist getting fried chicken?
Beer is also available by the glass and the bottle. For $3.75 you can get a glass of Kirin. Not a bad deal, but be warned, all these carbs will leave you in a food coma.
I highly recommend this restaurant if you’re in the area. I can’t wait to go back to Honolulu to dine here again.
