Ba-Le is a Hawaiian island restaurant chain that specializes in French-Vietnamese sandwiches, aka Bánh mì. In addition, they also sell Phở, a Vietnamese soup, and other dishes.
There is a Ba-Le located in the Kona Coast Shopping center, near KTA. Taking a break from eating plate lunch, my friends and I stopped here to get some ono (Hawaiian for good), and also inexpensive, food. I had my favorite type of Bánh mì – Grilled pork – for about $6. My sandwich had just the right about of pickled carrots and daikon, cucumber and cilantro. The meat was flavorful and tender. The French bread was fresh and crunchy on the outside. Not a bad deal.
