Taking a break from the beach, we headed to George Town for good eats and exploration. We stumbled upon Bread & Chocolate, located at the corner of Dr. Roy’s Drive and Edward Street in the center of the financial district. The first vegan restaurant on the island provides 100% vegan all-day breakfast and lunch options for health/eco-conscious diners. Clean food was what we needed after making unhealthy food choices since landing on the island.
On the menu are a selection of baked goods, breakfast items, which features their signature french toast, stuffed with chocolate hazelnut butter and bananas, dipped in coconut & tahini batter and topped with fresh fruit, and salads, sandwiches, soups, and entrees for lunch.
Coming with the intention of getting a quick afternoon bite, we shared an Island Bowl, A healthy serving of spicy jerk tofu, garlic sautéed seasonal greens, black beans, and fried plantain served over either cilantro brown rice or quinoa. Satisfying. Clean. Delicious. Too delicious to share. We wound up ordering another plate.
If you’ve got room, try some of their fresh baked goods, like Chocolate-Vanilla Marble Bundt Cake or
Banana Walnut Muffins, or try their delicious vegan “chocolate chip” cookies.
