Hudson Valley Restaurant Week at Benjamin Steakhouse

Sirloin Steak

Hudson Valley Restaurant Week returns March 9-22, 2015. Benjamin Steakhouse in White Plains is one of the 200+ restaurants that will offer prix fixe, three-course dinners for $29.95. Whether you’ve dined at Benjamin Steakhouse or not, you’ve got to take advantage of this deal.

To start off, diners can choose from three different appetizers including their Wedge Salad, Organic Mixed Greens Salad or a delicious Lobster Bisque Soup. As your entrée choose from a USDA Prime, Dry-Aged Sirloin, Grilled Norwegian Salmon, Chicken Parmesan, or a Pasta Primavera. For an extra $5, you can upgrade to USDA Prime Filet Mignon. Benjamin Steakhouse’s choices of sides include Creamed Spinach and Mashed Potatoes. Select a dessert to finish off your meal— choices include Carrot Cake, Chocolate Mousse Cake, Ice Cream or Sorbet.

The menu also features three bottles of wine specially priced at $35 each. We recommend the 2012 Lamuri Nero d’Avola, a wine that pairs perfectly with both meat and seafood. (Normally a bottle goes for $42).

For our appetizers we enjoyed the Mixed Greens Salad tossed in a light house vinaigrette and Lobster Bisque, a creamy soup with small pieces of lobster.

Since you’re at a steakhouse, you might as well order the Sirloin. The portion is almost enough for two people (depending on your appetite) and is cooked to the temperature you desire. Like all their steaks, the Sirloin is of top quality and served on a hot plate with the right amount of char. As an alternative, I recommend the Grilled Norwegian Salmon. Having dined here many times, I can say the seafood at Benjamin is excellent. The salmon perfectly cooked (medium-well) with slightly charred flesh. Our side selections were the classic creamed spinach and the steak fries and onion rings.

The carrot cake served with homemade schlag (whipped cream) is worth trying – it’s moist and has a delicious and rich buttercream frosting. The chocolate mousse cake is creamy and decadent.

As always, the food and service were excellent. If you haven’t dined at Benjamin Steakhouse yet, we highly recommend taking advantage of HVRW to get a taste of what they have to offer.
