NYC: Waldy’s Wood Fired Pizza & Penne

Delicious wood-fired pizza and fantastic penne dishes are what you can expect to get at Waldy’s Wood Fired Pizza & Penne in Chelsea. Near the main counter, you will find a crate full of fresh herbs that you can snip off by hand or with their shears and sprinkle them onto your meal. They’ve got the essential herbs: thyme, oregano, rosemary, parsley, and basil.

My favorite items off the menu are the classics: Margherita pizza and Mozzarella & Tomato Penne. Both are cooked in their wood-fired oven and the sauces are perfectly seasoned. The pizza served at Waldy’s is thin, and crispy. Toppings range from the usual like sausage, mushrooms to more exotic combinations like Arugula, Garlic & Sunny Side Eggs or Arugula, Garlic & Sunny Side Eggs Pizza. There are three sizes of pies available – small, medium, and large. If ordering a pizza for one, just get a small pie. Prices range from $6.50 to $9. Not bad for a meal in NYC.

The penne, or shall we call it Mac n Cheese, comes in three varieties: Double Cheddar Cheese Penne, Mozzarella & Tomato (a la Vodka) Penne, and Sausage & Broccoli Rabe Penne.

If you’re not in the mood for pizza or penne, you can get a salad. To drink, you can get soda, beer on draft, and even wine. For dessert, some Ciao Bella gelato and sorbet and brownies are available to order.
