Hemingway’s Bar & Restaurant is a well-known restaurant in Turks and Caicos. You’ll find it on The Sands Resorts property, right by the pool, and can dine outdoors or inside in the open-air restaurant.
Hemingways is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and offers a great menu, at reasonable prices. The quality of the food is great, and the portions are decent. I’ve dined here about 6 years ago when I first came to Turks and Caicos, and reminiscing about my first dining experience here, Hemingways still delivers.
This time around, I dined here for dinner, to catch the sunset over the gorgeous Grace Bay. The menu is typical, like all other restaurants on Grace Bay – fish, chicken, conch. At this restaurant, you’ll find daily specials, like “The Old Man and the Sea” which is the daily catch, and other great selections.
For dinner, we recommend starting with the Black Angus beef skewers, New York strip served with a side of vegetables and teriyaki dip for $10.75. The beef is perfectly cooked, and is actually tender for being cooked well-done. The appetizer is 2 pieces of steak served on skewers, resting on top of sautéed vegetables (zucchini, carrots, and broccoli).

“The Old Man and the Sea” special for the day was a whole red snapper in Creole sauce served with rice and peas and sautéed vegetables. The snapper was the freshest I’ve ever had – perfect, moist white flesh. The Creole sauce was a rich tomato-based spicy sauce – a perfect topping for the perfectly fried snapper. The rice and peas was cooked to perfection as well. I even saw a kid at a neighboring table indulging in his own big plate of solely rice and peas, and he was loving it.

Overall, the first time (6 years ago) and my recent time eating at Hemingway’s was great. The staff is friendly. The views on deck are great. And, even better, there’s live music during dinner service. Check with the restaurant for schedule.
