Grimaldi’s Pizzeria opened at the Limelight Marketplace in Chelsea back in February, and I finally got a chance to taste their coal-fired brick oven pizza. The name should ring a bell, especially since Food Network named it one of the top pizzerias in the country.
A large pie, $14, is supposedly enough for 3-4 people, but my buddy and I finished all 8 slices. The crust was perfectly cooked in their 1000 degree oven – a perfect combination of crisp and chewy. The sauce was delicious – sweet and rice. The handmade mozzarella cheese added a nice touch of saltiness. The few basil leaves topped and crisped made a heavenly combination.
Since the goal was to finish the entire pie in one sitting, I didn’t get any of the $2 toppings – mushrooms, onions, extra cheese, basil, etc. We’ll save that for next time.
Bonus: I was able to score a LivingSocial Instant Deal: $8 for $15 worth in food and drink.
Regardless if the deal is available or not, I highly recommend paying a visit to Grimaldi’s.
Can’t make it to their Manhattan location? They’re also in Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island, Hoboken, NJ, Arizona, Florida, Nevada and Texas.
