After a hard day of shopping at Bloomingdales, your stomach must be demanding some attention. You could find a restaurant in the area, or head down to the street level and grab a table at David Burke’s. David Burke owns many restaurants in NYC, but for inexpensive quick meals, I recommend hitting up this restaurant.
A casual restaurant, you can grab a seat by the window or a table and watch people pass by 59th Street or gaze into H&M which is across the street.
The last time I dined here, I just had a quick lunch with a colleague. There aren’t many good inexpensive options in this part of Manhattan, and I remembered having a great dinner here so I figured, why not try it for lunch.
The lunch menu is simple – sandwiches, salads, and entrees. I opted for the Grilled Yellowfin Tuna Sandwich, $14.50. A great deal for good quality fish served on toasted wheat bread, with guacamole, tomato and alfalfa sprouts along with a side order of fries, coleslaw and a pickle spear. The sandwich was delicious. The fish was cooked medium-rare, just the way I like it, and the sandwich was seasoned perfectly. The fries were also great – crispy and with just a touch of salt. The coleslaw, I was not a fan of. I just picked at the big chunks of cabbage, and didn’t care for it much.

My friend ordered the Hot Reuben Panini, $13.95. What led him to order that was the pastrami, which was made of kobe beef. Where do you get that!? So I just took a sliver of meat from his sandwich, and that pastrami was a hit. Hot pastrami that was lean and flavorful. Wait up? Lean pastrami, yes, apparently if you have pastrami made out of kobe beef, you are bound to have lean meat.
Overall, the service is great. Food is excellent. I beat the lunch rush and got a table right at noon, and was done at 12.50. Not bad.
Not around for lunch? They offer a great deal for dinner – $25 for a three course prix fixe dinner. So if you weren’t kind to your wallet while shopping, you will be kind to it with that deal.
