Here are a few photos from my recent visit to Julia Child’s Kitchen at the Smithsonian in Washington, DC. The kitchen measures 20 x 14 feet, the exact dimensions of Julia Child’s kitchen. When Julia donated her kitchen to the Smithsonian, the museum staff packed and catalogued the entire kitchen, then reassembled it in the museum exactly as it was in Child’s home. It was a marvel to see, especially being a foodie – how could you not want to see Julia’s kitchen.
Julia Child shared the passions, philosophies, and products of this kitchen in her home, with family, friends, colleagues, and fans for 45 years. Now she is sharing the kitchen itself with millions, having donated it to the National Museum of American History in 2001.
