FreshDirect was introduced to the New York City market in 2002, FreshDirect grew popular for its convenience, fresh food and lower prices than many Manhattan. In 2010, they expanded and now deliver to Fairfield County, CT.
FreshDirect sells high quality foods, and delivers it right to your door the next day. This is very convenient for busy people. I normally place my order before 11pm, and have it delivered the following afternoon. I’ve also placed my order before 5pm to get the first morning delivery between 6.30-8am.
I’ve been impressed with the orders I’ve received from FreshDirect. Sometimes the quality of the food is better than the local grocer, particularly the produce. If you have food that has to be ripened before consumption, they include a brown bag to place the fruit in so it can ripen quicker. Does your grocer do that?
You have a choice between conventional and organic food, and even the option of buying local produce. Prime cuts of meat, ocean-friendly seafood, and even kosher food.
Of their many Ready-to-Cook meals/items, I always order the San Marzano Tomato & Basil Marinara Sauce – a 16 oz container for $5.99. The sauce is sweet and full of flavor; and there are pieces of basil in it too. Prep is easy. Pour the sauce into a saucepan and simmer over low heat. Add cooked pasta to the sauce (or the other way around) and serve. Grate some Parmigiano Reggiano on top, and you’ve got yourself a meal in under 13 minutes.
