The Vermont House Tavern is a hotel, restaurant and tavern in the heart of downtown Wilmington. I dined here for brunch with a couple friends, or should I say family now =)
Driving around town, hungry, this was the first appealing spot to eat. Outside the entrance was a blackboard listing the specials of the day. The first item on that list with the Chile and Monterey Jack omelette. Of course it caught my eye because of the typo, but it also sounded delicious.
On the breakfast/brunch menu, several things caught my eye – the usual 3 eggs your way, the turkey hash with poached eggs, and the usual items you see on a breakfast menu. But on my mind was the Chili and Monterey Jack omelette. I’ve learned from past experiences to go with your first choice, cuz that’s what you really want. Well, for me, that’s the case.
So I went ahead and ordered the omelette ($9), with a coffee (free refills), and a Bloody Mary ($4). The omelette came with the usual fix ’ems: toast, hash browns, and a bonus, sliced fruits. I surely was not disappointed with my order. They even prepared the toast the way I wanted: toasted well. The hash browns were decent. I wasn’t thrilled about them because they were fried, but I did like the crispiness of the outside. I’ll let the photo of my meal do the rest of the talking. See below:

Another tasty looking item off the menu is the turkey hash with poached eggs, shown below:
