Coalhouse Pizza is a pizza and brew restaurant located in the Bull’s Head strip mall in Stamford. The beer selection, both bottled and on tap, is impressive. The pizza – I wasn’t impressed, especially after hearing rave reviews from other patrons.
The pies I ordered were the Sidewinder and the Unforgettable. My favorite of the two was the latter.
Sidewinder Small: $12.75/Large: $17.75
Fresh tomato sauce, mozzarella, fresh basil, garlic, sautéed broccoli rabe, cherry peppers, hot oil, house-made Coalhouse spicy sausage
> The cherry peppers were not needed – it was throwing off the taste of the ingredients – no harmony I guess. Without the peppers, this could have been a great pie.

Unforgettable Small: $13.75/Large: $18.75
House-made vodka sauce, nitrate-free bacon chunks, Pecorino Romano, fresh ground pepper, fresh basil
> Too much of a good thing: vodka sauce. The bacon, who doesn’t love bacon, was great and meshed well with the other ingredients, but too much sauce, which overpowered the rest.
