Liz Sue Bagels is one of the few bagel shops in Stamford, CT. According to many reviews I’ve read online (Yelp, Stamford Life, among many). Being a native New Yorker, I decided to give this place a shot.
On a brisk Autumn morning I stood in queue of the many local patrons waiting to grab a bagel, or 2. The aroma of freshly made bagels got my hunger going. Peeking in, I saw the bakers work their magic, as the bagels are made fresh on the premises.
I ordered sesame seed bagel with scallion cream cheese – a good test for a first order. It was alright. The bagel was very thick and ‘doughy.’ The outside of the bagel, although requested to be toasted, could have been baked/toasted a little longer.
I was a bit disappointed because I was expecting ‘the best’ bagel. There is no comparison to what you can get in NYC.
You can get other things at this shop – bagel sandwiches, like the one pictured to the right.
- Chicken salad – not too much mayo, but the chicken needed more flavor
- Bacon and egg – if you dig microwaved scrambled eggs, then go for it.
