Ping Pong Dim Sum is a modern dim sum restaurant located in Chinatown, Washington, DC. Despite the name, there are no ping pong tables, but a nice selection of contemporary dim sum dishes. A bit of a change from the traditional dim sum I’m used to.
Unlike a typical dim sum service, there are no carts being pushed around with prepared dishes that you can have just by pointing at them. You have to select your dishes after reviewing the fancy paper menu they provide.

What we ate:
Pork Shu Mai
The Dumpling Fix set menu
- 2 vegetable puffs (pictured, right)
- Steamed dumplings: chive, har gau, scallop and shitake, seafood, spinach and mushroom, spicy chicken
- Traditional sticky rice
- 2 crispy hoisin duck spring rolls
It’s unfortunate I didn’t do my research earlier. We ate at the normal dim sum time, not during the evening hours, which I’m sure would be much better due to the ambiance and type of crowd it draws.
Also, it’s on the pricey side, so be prepared to cough up some $ for a single dumpling.
