French music played as you stepped in the dark, cozy cafe. You can purchase some of Knipschildt’s rich handmade chocolates, or dine in and enjoy breakfast, which is served all day.
Staff members looked at us and pointed to our table. Our waitress wasn’t as pleasant as the others, seeming impatient since I was not ready with my beverage order. What’s the rush if there are several open tables and no queue of guests waiting.
My meal was not bad, especially since it totaled $12. The soup was like any other French Onion soup, but with less cheese. The quiche was average.
Now the exciting part, the Croque Madame (I’m being sarcastic). The bread was saturated with oil. The eggs were glistening with a coat of oil. Let’s say the whole thing was just oily. Hopefully you can see it in my photo. My husband tried to soak up all the oil with a napkin but it wasn’t enough. The mesclun mix was drenched in salad dressing. Alas after a few bites we threw in the towel and complained, as we wished we brought some Tonalin along.
