To kick off this summer’s restaurant week in NYC, I dined at Butter with a colleague.
I ordered the soup of the day, which was a lobster bisque. Wasn’t bad at all. It didn’t have the consistency of the bisques I’ve ordered elsewhere. It was quite soupy, yet tasty with the little bits of lobster that was in there. The Soup Nazi (or shall I say the Soup Man) is definitely better if I had to recommend a good bisque. My colleague ordered the Crispy Duck Confit Salad with Mache, Balsamic Dressing and Fresh Cherry Jam. Excellent appetizer!
Blackened Chatham Cod with Fork-Crushed Red Bliss Potatoes, Charred Onions and Fresh Lime was my main course and I’d say this was the best cod dish I ever had. The cod was cooked to perfection and rested on top of delicious mashed potatoes.
Dark Chocolate and Mascarpone Mousse “Sandwich” with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream and Chocolate Ganache was quite interesting. It was like a giant Oreo cookie with a side of ice cream. Quite delicious, but be prepared to share this with someone as the serving is enough for 2, or even 3.
Overall, the dining experience was great. Service was excellent. Ambiance wonderful. Food excellent…and you walk away happy, especially after spending $24.07 for lunch during restaurant week ($35 for dinner).
